Rose's Breakfast

Wow, Meggers, your breakfast breakdown seems so complicated. Since I am a delicate flower, I rarely partake in a sit-down breakfast. On work days, it is way too early to eat. I usually get by with a protein bar and coffee from my Senseo pod machine (French Vanilla with the Mocha Mix-In) after being at work for about 2 hours. On the weekends, I have yogurt, strawberries, and Go-Lean Crunch parfait. If I'm lucky, someone will go to a greasy diner with me, where I will always get French toast, some sort of pork breakfast meat, and coffee. I don't enjoy breakfast, except on greasy diner days. All other days I merely eat breakfast because I know I have to. I take my multi-vitamin at night, because I once read that most of us eat enough vitamins and minerals throughout the day to sustain us, but we need additional vitamins at night for our bodies to repair themselves. Food for thought.

Dinner is my favorite meal...but that's something we can discuss further at a later date.

Schmat's thoughts on brekkie:

I have never been a breakfast person. Besides a brief Strawberry Shortcake breakfast cereal obsession in the 1980s, I avoided breakfast foods (except bacon) throughout my childhood. I hate syrup, sausage gives me heartburn, pancakes no nothing for me, and french toast is dead to me. I think I began liking bagels and cream cheese in high school and eggs/omlettes in college. Still, I don't eat these foods at appropriate breakfast time frames, but will eat them for lunch or dinner. I prefer, whenever possible, to sleep/lounge in jammies on the couch until 10:30AM, when places start to serve lunch items. I struggle with anxiety related to being the first person of the day to order a lunch item and have an irrational fear of being told that "lunch isn't being served yet."

So, if it's a weekend, I tend to avoid breakfast entirely. I do enjoy the opportunity for a brunch or a diner outing (mimosas= yes please), but rarely have the chance. On early work days, breakfast is a Dunkin' Donuts Medium Iced Mocha latte made with skim milk (but I secretly like when they accidentally use whole milk) and a Zone bar. Sometimes, if I'm being good, it's a Zone bar and water. Or chocolate milk- I strongly recommend Garelick Farms (fat free really does taste like 2%!!)

I agree with Rose- dinner's where it's at. But meggers, am very impressed by your thoughtful breakfast routine, and think it was the perfect start to a healthy blog!!
